About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Electrical & Industrial Construction to lead complex electrical and industrial construction projects across Alberta. This role requires strong leadership, advanced planning skills, and a demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and project excellence.

Pay: $110,000 CAD - $140,000 CAD

The pay listed is the salary range for this position. Any specific offer will vary based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.


Key Responsibilities
Team Coordination & Leadership
  • Lead and coordinate internal teams, customers, and subcontractors to ensure effective communication.
  • Recruit, onboard, and manage subcontractors, electricians, and support staff.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative team culture that supports innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Provide clear direction, mentorship, and performance feedback to project teams.
  • Conduct structured weekly team and client meetings, ensuring clear agendas and actionable outcomes.
  • Deliver weekly project updates on progress, risks, and scheduling challenges.
  • Maintain an accurate Project Issues Log to ensure timely resolution of project challenges.
Project Planning & Execution
  • Collaborate with Sales to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Develop detailed project execution plans including budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Build and maintain a risk matrix tailored to project complexity.
  • Manage all subcontracted scopes of work, including scope documentation, pricing, contracting, and performance review.
  • Coordinate with Estimating and Engineering teams for project planning and subcontractor needs.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Canadian and National Building & Electrical Codes.
Project Cost & Budget Management
  • Develop, track, and manage project budgets.
  • Maintain accurate reporting of actual, committed, and forecasted costs.
  • Identify cost‑saving opportunities and ensure efficient financial control.
  • Manage change orders, maintaining a detailed log of all change activity and required documentation.
  • Prepare and submit accurate customer estimates as required.
Project Schedule Management
  • Build and maintain detailed project schedules aligned with client commitments and contractual obligations.
  • Update schedules weekly using tools such as MS Project, NetSuite, Procore, Site Tracker.
  • Work with suppliers and subcontractors to secure resources and mitigate delays.
  • Monitor progress and adjust schedules proactively.
Safety Compliance
  • Champion a strong safety culture that aligns with Alberta’s HSE requirements.
  • Ensure subcontractors meet or exceed safety standards.
  • Maintain safety training compliance records for all team members.
Quality Assurance
  • Review engineering drawings, redlines, and site conditions for accuracy and constructability.
  • Implement and maintain quality control processes to reduce rework and deficiencies.
  • Conduct inspections, testing, and manage punch‑list completion prior to handover.
Client Communication
  • Maintain open, professional communication with clients throughout projects.
  • Address concerns and change requests promptly.
  • Provide regular status updates and project reporting.
Procurement
  • Manage procurement of major electrical equipment (switchgear, transformers, generators, batteries, EV chargers, etc.).
  • Mitigate long‑lead risks with proactive order tracking and supplier coordination.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and material quality.
Reporting & Documentation
  • Maintain complete project records including work orders, progress reports, permits, drawings, and client documentation.
  • Provide reporting on team performance, budget adherence, and schedule status.

Continuous Improvement
  • Encourage innovation, feedback, and implementation of improved processes.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and technologies in electrical and industrial construction.
  • Apply lessons learned to improve future project delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Advanced English Proficiency (CLB 9–12).
  • Minimum 5 years experience in electrical or industrial construction project management.
  • Proficiency in MS Project, Microsoft Office, Procore, BIM360, NetSuite, and similar platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross‑functional teams and subcontractors.
  • Strong budgeting, cost control, and change‑order management skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and construction regulations.
  • Strong decision‑making, problem‑solving, and risk‑mitigation abilities.
  • Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with procurement and managing long‑lead equipment.

Preferred Qualifications
Project Manager Candidates
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Electrical license or relevant industry certifications.
  • Experience supporting interprovincial or multi‑site clients (asset).
  • Bilingual French/English (asset, not required).
Senior Construction Manager Candidates
  • 10+ years experience leading complex industrial/electrical construction projects.
  • PMP certification.
  • Experience spanning design, civil/structural coordination, permitting, and construction execution.
  • Experience liaising with Professional Engineers and managing design‑build lifecycle documentation.
